: Favourite Area To Ride?
MikeD 01-03-2003, 10:58 AM Through the years I've covered alot of Ontario and have enjoyed most of it. If I'm after a test rip, I'll hit the lakes in Muskoka. If I want a scenic ride, I cover the Parry Sound over to Haliburton area. If I want a more "spirited" ride, I'll head north from say New Liskeard up to Cochrane or across to Kap.
What ever area you're from, where do you like to ride and why?
Michael
Wolfman 01-03-2003, 11:05 AM I love the mountains. I like the scenery, and the wildlife. The snowmobile is my vehicle to get out there and enjoy it. SWRules
permafrost 01-03-2003, 11:27 AM Wherever it is DEEP and STEEP. Northern Quebec and the James bay Fronteir is where we like to play.
Bauer 01-03-2003, 11:32 AM I like to ride in the Duck Mountain. It has a little bit of every thing, and my one friend lives right by there, and he knows his way around like the back of his hand. Most of the trails that we ride on are used by us only, so we can giver down them, and there is a lot of lakes to open the machines up on and have a lot of fun. The trails are very challanging, which makes them fun.
If you ever wanna come up for a ride, email me or PM me, and we can hook up.

LadyK 01-03-2003, 11:35 AM Cochrane is a great place beacause of the on and off trail opportunities.
Quebec is great too. Like a half pipe for sleds, and the abandoned ski hills for those that wanna try :sarcasm:

Ive "accidently" gone off trail in Cochrane and promptly up to my neck. You folks who ride up there must just have a ball with the right equipment!
BGTRK19472 01-03-2003, 12:06 PM Growing up in central MN used to be fun when i was young you could ride from your front door any where. Now that things have changed one needs to travel northeast to get good snow. I now would say the west and central parts of the U.P are by far my favorate. SWRules
ProX02RACER 01-03-2003, 12:44 PM I LOVE to ride where ever there is snow! usually in Maine we get jipped! such as last year we got a whopping 27 inches... so far this year we have already had 20"... and another 10-20 coming! so i just ride where the trails bring me!
permafrost 01-03-2003, 12:55 PM Its great up there Mike , even with the right equipment you still get stuck, just less. Hopefully this year with the 1.75" there will be less digging ;)
paul yarek 04-04-2004, 12:22 AM i like riding around home because when i feel like the couch hasn't been ridden in awhile i just ride that.
Cochrane is the place for me. I can ride all week and hardly touch the groomed stuff if I want.
When you doo ride the trails there wide, flat and best of all very few stop signs.
Mind you I've always wanted to ride in the foot hills of the rockies.

Fasta Thenu 04-04-2004, 01:02 AM Southern Ontario, but that's all I've ever ridden. Should go north one of these years...
sawman 04-04-2004, 09:09 AM We use to ride hard and long now we socialize more, to us its not how far you go its the fun you had doing it.We still do 200 miles plus a day from time to time but have just as much or more fun doing 150 with good company. So I would have to say my favorite spot is where ever we are at that moment. (Cochrane ROCKS) I'm not over the last moment yet!
jsprigg 04-04-2004, 01:44 PM My favorite so far has been from Sudbury (just north of it ) to Timmins and back. Some nice lake riding and pretty good trails. Just under 400km one way... not bad for a 2 day trip.
My second favorite would be from Searchmont (near Sault St. Marie) to Wawa and back. Can be a bit tedious when the logging roads are ploughed. This one's around 350km one way.
Wish I was there right now. Oh well... always next season.

snokid 600 04-04-2004, 02:54 PM I live in michigan and have not ventured into canada much but I love riding in the UP of michigan. DEEP is an understatement in some areas. Like Jeff said DEEP and STEEP. I love those big hills where you can launch the sled 30 feet :inlove: .
Next year I plan on doing alot more canada Riding, and I can't wait.

reimagal 04-04-2004, 03:15 PM Quebec....worth the trailer haul.
puree 04-04-2004, 06:29 PM I had always liked the Newberry area in the UP of Michigan,,, lots of trails, the people are very friendly and lots of neat sites. This winter I had a chance to ride around Elmira Michigan in lower Michigan and really liked that area also,,,, gonna try to visit there a couple times next year,,,
99 ZL owner 04-04-2004, 08:05 PM The past few years, we ride in the U P.Usually we start in Wetmore and go to where ever the trails[and gas] take us.We always manage to go to Miners Castle, and like the Baldy Lake trail system. The scenery is absolutely breath taking.I'm sure there are other places to go to,and some day we will :D

team old iron 04-04-2004, 10:36 PM Bend Oregon, 20 minutes to the mountains and 20 minutes the other way to the desert. First ride= day after thanksgiving, last ride usually june followed by fishing or atving that after noon. And the snow is deep!
lilarrow 04-04-2004, 10:59 PM Favorite places for me to go to have been either the black hills southern or northern bighorns snowy range or cooke city wyoming
flower picker 04-05-2004, 01:29 AM My favourite trail is right here at home, between here (Penetang) and Wasaga Beach. I did enjoy the trail through Algonquin Park too. I would love to ride in Idaho. We went to a dirt bike weekend there a few years ago and I'd love to go to that area in the winter. I think it would be awesome riding. I'd also love to try the trails in Quebec and my desire is to ride the Lake Superior Challenge loop (or however you call it :lookaround: )

Bar2Bar 04-05-2004, 08:19 AM The Tantalus Range between Whistler and Squamish B.C is the best I have seen bar none. Once you get to the top (around 8000'ASL) you can see Vancouver Island and beyond.. champagne powder is great as well.

spikegary 04-05-2004, 04:54 PM Limited on where I've been, but I love NY's Southern Tier. We go on weekdays mostly, and the trails are all groomed and there's no one else out there. Plus, no additional charge for ridsing above the cost of your registration.

No friction, Just can't figure out how you can surf and post so much and still have time for other things. :dazed: I guessed that maybe your computer is somewhere near the TV, Kitchen and a couch.

Hehehe, IIRC, he works at a Ford dealership. If his dealership is like most, he probably has TONS of dead time between car sales. Apparently though, he doesn't work in the service department. He wouldn't have 5 seconds of spare time with the constant lineup of cars in a Ford service department. :D j/k
TallCool1 04-08-2004, 11:20 AM The St Germain, WI, area is still a favorite of mine. The trails are very nice, but I really like the area because there is no shortage of pitstops, scenery, and great hospitality. Every establishment you pull up to is happy to see the sledders come in. And from this area, the UP is just an hour away by sled if that's the type of riding we want on a given day. The UP (Munising/Newberry areas) is also becoming a favorite of mine. The hospitality isn't that great, IMO, but the ability to ride off-trails is awesome, which the Wisconsin area can't offer. I like the fact that the UP and Wisconsin are so close to each other....we can lodge at either one, and ride to the other.
I do plan on making it to Cochrane SOMEDAY since you guys have nothing but great things to say about it, but it must be about a 20 hour drive for me. I also want to make the Superior Loop soon.
charlo 04-08-2004, 12:37 PM Northern New Brunswick. I can leave from my backyard most of the winter. We usually sled from December to the middle of April. We have something for everybody, lakes, powder and groomed trails. Lastly, I have never been stopped by the police for going over 50 KM/hour :D
puree 04-08-2004, 12:40 PM cant agrue with that one Charlo,,,,, wish I could head that way some day with some of the pics I have seen from up there, but that would be one heck of a haul,,,,
charlo 04-08-2004, 12:46 PM Puree,
Come on up next winter! My wife is going back to university so all my week-ends are free. I feel a 5000 mile winter coming on! :hallo1:

Hey I live here and still haven't got a chance to get up and do some riding in Northern NB :slick: . I'm sure someday I'll get up there and I have heard nothing but great reports. Though I can't complain with some of the trails where I sled, some real nice scenery riding along the rivers.
If you ever do come up Brian let us all know.
puree 04-08-2004, 08:16 PM I would honestly love to make that trip some time,,,,see if we couldnt get a few of us from down here together and throw together a 4 place and head that way,,,, could be a very nice trip, but one long ride home!!!
