96 panther idle question tps
 

I have a 96 panther 440 fan that only idles if i hold the throttle just a bit. It is the tps switch in the handle bars. there is not enough tention on the throttle to push the switch so it stays idling. It runs great otherwise, just dies if I dont keep pressure on the throttle. The bushings dont seem to be worn that hold the throttle assembly together. Is there something I can adjust or, how can I just bypass it? I know, thats not the proper way, but its driving me nutz!!!! thanx.

It means your throttle cable is sticking,,clean and lube it or replace it.

You can raise the throttle cables via the threaded connection at the carb covers; do it the same on each (assuming two). Also check the oil pump to make sure it is within spec after cable adjustments.

You can also disable the safety switches by unplugging the wires on each carb. The downside of this might prove to be an issue however. (I tend to run most AC machines sans safety switches, while I always leave the better designed systems on our Polaris alone.)
