Hi Sled Heads.

I have a 1988 Ski Doo Formula MX that continuesly blows the head light and only the headlight. I put a brand new blub in, and it is already gone on the high beam. This sled has the two key position, and with "two clicks" over it wont run, but you go back to the first and it fires right up. Is it possible when it gets to the second click it is shorting out the headlight? Any response would be helpful as i dont want to keep buying new headlights to ride a 18 yr old sled.

Had the same problem on my 96 Grand Touring, replaced the regulator and problem solved. Make sure and ground points are clean and tight as well.

Also- make sure you don't touch the bulb when installing it.

I didnt think i had touched the bulb, but its possible. With the voltage regulator, that would cause only the headlight to go and no other lights? Is that because it draws the most watage?

The regulator went on my 1988 formula Plus and it would fry all of the lightbulbs...I had one go on my sons citation and it would only blow the headlight bulb and nothing else.I also had an everest that would only blow the headlight...New regulators fixed them all..

Well, for $20.00 its not a total wash if it doesnt solve the problem.
Thanks everyone!
