Actually I spoke to her a little while back. You may notice the link is a year old. She told me it was running perfectly and never again will she overlook doing simple routine maintainance .
Hi Mike,
No, I didn't follow the tests, but it did shut off suddenly when I slipped and my hand hit the throttle pin/lever accidentily. When I inspected the area, I noticed the lever was looser and the throttle wire dangling. It seems there should be some other part on the inside of the lever to hold the throttle wire in place as it currently tends to twist and slide out the hole in the lever.
The cable definitely does not have the tension it should. When I push it in and hold it, it will start, but when I release it and the cable becomes slack it shuts off. I guess that's why I think the TPS is gone.
I'll try to get to the spring and shaft that goes through the throttle bodies. Thanks for the tip. Jack
The throttle block contains a switch which will shut off the motor if the cable goes slack it is a safety device in case the throttle were to stick open. I believe your throttle block is broken where the cable is retained allowing the cable to jump out of place and the cable to go slack. I think the switch is causing the stalling as it is
sensing the resulting slack in the cable it is shutting the engine down as it is supposed to. Sounds like the TPS is ok and you just need to replace the broken throttle lever
