I'm doing a top-end replacement on my 1988 Arctic Cat Panther twin 500cc fan cooled and need recommendations on which manufacturer's Piston Kit (piston, rings, wrist pin, bearing) to use. For instance: Wiseco, SPI, Arctic Cat, Etc... Please recommend based on your experience.
Also, I notice in the the catalogs, like "High Performance Engineering's, that "SPI's" piston kits say "STD" for the size (standard bore I assume). Don't you usually bore the cylinder like .020" and use a larger piston & ring ??
I've used weisco, seemed ok.
as for the sizing ,,well on a sled you are usually putting in new pistons at around 6000 miles ,
You can measure your cyld; but many times the cyld. isn't worn enough to be rebored until around 8000 to 12000 miles ( I 've mostly seen liquid cooled sleds)
