Default I'm a 16 year old sledneck!!!

I have an 02 rmk 800 and I don't know if I should dump some money into it or sell it and upgrade. How much would it be to upgrade the following;
Track extension to 151
Lightweight hood
Different runners
Lightweight seat
And possibly a turbo
Is it worth it to do all this? Or just buy a newer pro rmk
I'm big into backcountry riding in Utah I do a lot of boo docking especially also want to be able to manouver well in all applications I need my sled to be nimble and quick. What should I do

You will spend a bunch of bucks on that 02 to get it to perform even close to an IQ.

If you can find the parts cheap, it may be worth it; but if you're looking new, it will be very spendy. Track kit is about $700, light weight hood (polycarbonate) is $319, new Boss seat is about $500, set of SLP Powder Pro skis will set you back almost $500. A turbo? 3000-5000 and no guarantees. If you go turbo, better fix the 800 so it doesn't break the PTO end of the crank off. And if you go longer track, going from 144" to 151" doesn't really give you much greater flotation; go to the 159" instead! You will be a lot happier.

Without the turbo, you still put $2000 into a sled that's got an engine that is begging for a new crank and crankcase as well as a bunch of clutch work. After you get all the goodies, you still have a 13 year old sled. Resale value will be minimal, so you better like it. A lot.

Sell the 800, look for an 07 Dragon 700. The 700 is much more capable, a LOT lighter, easier to sidehill, has a great transition from sitting to standing, and the 700 engine is a LOT more durable than the Edge 800. JMHO. I owned two 800 Edge sleds (an 02 and an 04.) I thought they were awesome until I rode an IQ. You will also get PERC electronic reverse on any sled (Edge or IQ) newer than 2004.

The 07-08 600 is a great sled. You might want to consider that one as well. The 06 600 is ok but will take some work to make it as good as the 07+ sleds. I would shy away from the 05-06 900 or the 06 700, they only made that engine in those years for a reason.

If you can afford the Pro RMK, those are awesome. I'm leery of the 800 (that engine scares me until they have a few years where there are not significant issues!), but I have considered the 600. Great sleds.

Good luck in your decision. lots of money for a 16 year old to be considering... be wise in your decision! (that's what I tell my son )

ebay,,,crashedtoys.com and other salvage auction websites may have a parts sled you can get for parts.
If you were going to change the seat,skis,hood and turbo any sled you get;;; than upgrading the track and rails would be a good option for the 02 ,other wise just trading up is probably the better idea.
