Default 2003 Legend 550f gearing?

Hey, I was just wondering If there is any company out there that makes differant gears for the 550 zx platform... like dropping 2 teeth on top and 1 on the bottom?

your oem gearing is 22/43 which translates to 1.95 gear ratio, actually not that bad,if you go down on the top by 2 and 1 on the bottom, then you are essentially going down by 1.5 on the top.which cannot be done of course, choose gearing wisely and test
22/43= 1.95 oem
20/43= 2.15 down 2 on top
20/42= 2.10 down 2 on top and 1 on bottom
19/43= 2.26 down 3 on top
you should consider the chain length needed,to long of a chain and you loose effeciency because you have to tighten the slack adjuster and the chain has too roll around a larger curve.the rule of thumb is too run the shortest chain for the gear ratio.the bigger the ratio the better for acceleration and coming out of the corners.
too much though and the clutches will go too far into overdrive, what will happen next is the clutches will shift to far, flip the drive belt and lock up the transmission at high speed, another point is the over run you'll experience, the engine will over rev and you'll lose engine power very rapidly and possibly cook the engine
