The helix should come out after the snap ring is removed. You will need to slightly compress the helix to relieve the tension on the snap ring. If you have a clutch press, that works well. If not, press down on the helix as you remove the snap ring (that works really well if you have three hands ) If you can, pay attention to which holes the spring is installed. You will want to reinstall the spring in the same holes to keep the same performance.
While it's apart, it's a good time to replace the buttons. And make sure you preload the spring by turning the movable sheave about 1/4 turn counterclockwise as you install the helix.
Good luck!

Spray it with WD40 once in the morning, and one in the evenning for a day or two. Eventually, it should break loose and helix should come out. WL

I want to say Polaris RED is the color of the spring for the 2nd-ary but I am not sure - you can ask POLARIS dealer for verification. U prolly best bet replace the buttons like BCDAN stated and put in the new spring for it. Set it in hole-2. WL

Here's a link to the Polaris website, you can get the part number here. I looked, it's a 7041038 which has been replaced by a 7041198. WL is right, that number is for a red spring.

the new one will be a tight fit as well, you need to clean up the shaft with some very fine emery cloth and acetone,it'll work.
the best way to keep the clutches in proper working order is too service them yearly
