Default Too many choice!?

Hi, Im 19 and looking at buying my first sled. Im looking at spending anyfrom $2000 to $2500 on it. Ive looked into sleds a little bit, and like the look of Arctic Cats. But I dont know much about sleds. Im 5 7. Which selds would you recommand? Size? Long or short track? Thanks!

I liked my polaris 2002, 500xcsp with vforce3 reeds and a 136 track extension for an all round good sled. Good in the ditches (up to 4ft of snow) and just fast enough
on the lake(80-100mph).

Well it really depends, as you get more experienced you will want a bigger track and bigger motor, I would start with a 136 with at least a 600 that would suit you up.

Not to thread jack, but I felt it would be dumb to start a new one. I'm in the same boat, a bit older (23) but this would also be my first sled. I've done a bit of riding and A LOT of building / modifying to snowmobiles.

I'd like to spend about the same amount as the OP, but I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty and I'm not opposed to getting something a bit older. Honestly, triples intrigue me and I think I'd like to step into one of those. Maybe an SRX 700? Mach Z? And recommedations or help would be appreciated.

Late 90's to early 2000's yammi triple's are pretty good. Pretty reliable stock and lots of room to mod them if you want. And you can pick them up for a song - saw several at haydays this year in perfect shape with low miles for under 2K.

I almost want to pick one up and turn it into a 'bush banger' for when I don't want to break the front end on my XP!

Friend of mine has one that started life as a Yammi 700 triple ('98 I think). Now it is around 980cc with triple pipes and high compression domes. The claim is it makes almost 200hp. It is set up as an extreme mountain sled - Ti front end, timbersled rear suspension, new higher seat, cloth hood, etc. The only bad part is that it needs race gas to run here in mn...
