Here's the latest from my sleds and my band. I sing the song, so if you don't like it, don't tell me!
I sprained my foot this January and couldn't ride until April. But we had a killer spring, wrapping it up June 6 this year.
The mod sled is my old 1992 indy 500 136" mountain mod, but with a twin piped 700 transplant and mesh hood, gas shocks, upgraded front end travel, etc. I built the thing myself and it's proven reliable and ridiculously fun after two seasons now. Best of all, it was cheap, built out of mostly spare parts, so it's like my ultimate junkyard sled.
Oh yeah, the snowboards. The original nosecone will never fit now, and snowboards are light, strong, and glide better than anything. I cut out the center section of my wife's old Nidecker pro model and painted the ends. After 2 years, they have proven slightly beneficial because they make a flexible front bumper and give you a smoother impact when you hit snow walls or fallen trees. They also hold open the hood - my mod sled's mesh hood opens and closes just like stock. So it was an experiment, but I'm definitely keeping them.
Hey Beaxch! I was wondering what happened to you this winter - long time with no word!
I made it out to Idaho this winter - that is a looooong drive from mn! Good riding though and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. I still haven't put any pictures online though.
I will have to check out the vids when I get home (youtube blocked through work...)
