My firecat at an idle creeps ahead. Or with the brake on it will start to smoke the belt a little . Im thinking I might have a bad weight on my clutch. Any other ideas

Weak clutch spring, wrong size belt.
Have you changed anything recently?
How many miles on the sled, clutches, belt?
Support the track off the ground and rev the sled up and then apply the brake a few times to see if things loosen up.

It's cheaper to replace the decals, then build up a little sled. Don't believe what you read on the hood.

The first time I rode a snowmobile was 7/4/72. It was a 71 488 Polaris Charger.
I am not familiar with Cat clutches, but is there a belt tension adjustment? In doo clutches there is a way to set the tension on the belt - get it too tight and it will creep ahead, tighter yet and it will burn the belts.
If not (then assuming you have the correct belt on) it could be anything that changes the alignment of the clutches - broken engine mounts, tweaked frame, broken jack shaft tower, etc.
It could also be something wrong with the primary - broken spring for example. My guess would be spring vs weights if it is the clutch that is the problem...
