ii would say he jetted down for the elevation,i run k and n on all my sleds,do not and i mean do not run this sled at sea level without going thru the carbs and change your jetting as required

Found out he jetted it up to compinsate for the extra air that the filters produce. it makes sense to me but ive heard that they run really rich from the factory so should i put the stocks back in? He rode @ 0-1500

You should leave it the way it is. I have read threads all over the web that says you should change the jetting up one size due to the extra air you're getting. Put it this way, I'd much rather run a bit rich then run the change of going too lean and blowing the motor. I've even read in catalogs that suggest going up one jet size when using high flow air filters.

Thanks canadian! So another thing ive been thinking about; the guy told me to keep the hood vents closed because when powder gets in, the carbs freeze up. so with that being said, if the vents are closed, then the engine is sucking in hot are due to lack of air flow. Hot air + engine = no bueno. so what can i do to keep the intake air cool?

Ended up buying an airbox and gutting it then running the filters through that. heres some pics just incase anyone else decides to do this.

Closing the vents won't affect your air intake temp that much. The main reason for closing the vents in the first place is to keep powder out, and keep the clutch dry. By putting the airbox back in, you have effectively put your sled back to stock because now your choke point in air flow is that area above your gauges.
They guy was right in telling you that you need to close the vents in deep powder because there is a chance that you can freeze them up. But because the hood doesn't make a tight seal when closed, you have air leaks everywhere that will help keep temp down, plus you will still draw in cold air from around your gauges.
Its just my personal opinion but the extra power gain from uni filters would never be seen running in deep snow. Throttle response may improve slightly.

The price of jets are very inexpensive in comparison to replacing burned down pistons! My advice would be to find out the stock jetting, go up 4 main jet sizes from stock, ride and jet down if needed after plug checks and piston wash checks. Safe is always your cheapest bet!!
