Default rage with no spark

i have a 05 yamaha rs rage that i have put a new motor in. when i first started it it ran like crap so ni changed the gas and cleaned the carbs . the sled then would run with the choke off but would not rev up with out the choke on but it still ran crapy. so i checked the plugs and one was black and the others were still new . so idid notice that one of the spark plug tubes were sparking on the block so i put some elec tape on it . put the plugs backin and it wouldnt start pulled the plugs out and no spark now? i have checked the stator , coils, pick up coil, fuses, and everything is in spec from the repair manual. i was thinking cdi but the sled only had 2237 miles on it before the motor threw a rod? the bearing cap bolts loosened up in the old motor and the rod broke. i bought the sled like this so everything is new to me.
