Default Help finding starter for 2005 MXZ 550 fan

I want to add a starter to my 2005 MXZ 550 Fan. I got an aftermarket starter said to fit, and the two mounting hole near the pinion match, but the third hole at the opposite end of the starter does not match. There is a mounting hole on my engine at that end, but is a couple inches lower. I do have a service manual, and it has a photo of the starter which matches the starter that I have, but it just doesn't fit my engine. When I try to look up battery and starter on brp.com, it's not listed for the 550 Fan. A starter kit was an option, but is no longer available. The sled is pre-wired for a battery and starter solenoid, even a "start" position on the key switch. Do I have the wrong starter? Is there a bracket or adapter that I am missing? Perhaps someone with an electric start 550 Fan 2004-2006 can take a look and help me out.

Thanks.

Dick

I did find a take-off on the wiring harness for a starter solenoid in the wiring diagram - doesn't help much though...

Maybe check over at dootalk - I am sure there are a lot more people over there with your sled that can help you out.

Good luck!
