Default Long time AC owner seeking other options

I'm dissappointed with A/C's lineup especially this yr. There is like 1 sled arnd 600cc otherwise it's all 800-1000. My kids arent ready for a 600 but the 120 is way too small. What happened to a nice selection of 500-600cc sleds. Price is also just out of control, I know technology is growing but the ecomony is not. I can buy a brand new Kia for the price of a sled these days. So what are my other options?????

Skidoo has the new 600 ACE engine. It is a 4-stroke so even though it is '600cc' is is only putting out about 60hp (about comparable to an old 440 liquid or the 550 fans). You also get the smoothness, reliability (and weight) of a 4-stroke.

I think Yamaha is still building their Bravo - 250cc 2-stroke. It is a nice, light and simple sled. They may have quit making them but I think a lot of dealers still have some sitting around new. These were pretty cheap as well if you are looking for something both new and affordable.

I have also noticed the lack of affordable low-power sleds these days. I will probably go for something used when the time comes. I kind of wish I had kept my old '80 Jag 340!

Good Luck and let us know what you end up doing!

Couldn't agree more. The manufacturers are going to price themselves out of existence. Hard to justify over $10,000 on something I get to ride 4-6 times a year. Only able to ride one 3 day trip last year, complete lack of snow. If one of the big four offers a stripped down machine with 600cc 2-stroke type power, I'm on it. I still have a '79 Trailfire I intend to let my kids pound into oblivion.

Not good enough. They can do better. I want serious horsepower coupled with stand on your head handling. Save the graphics and snowsuite combo's for the wannabee's.

Imo the new so called Indy does nothing for me, all it is is a rush with a indy sticker, a indy is a trailing arm Sled, that's just what i think.
