If you have stayed at motels or lodges while snowmobiling in the UP, please post any good or bad comments here to help other SW members when they are planning trips.

The Vagabond motel In Paradise

Rate 40-50
Near gas stations, Bar and grocery store
Trails always stink within about 4 miles of town but it is on trail
Pet friendly, as long as caged when leave
Friendly people
Service/cleanliness is OK
Has webcam you can visit
can come in in the middle of the night as long as you have reserved ahead of time and forewarned them.

Strongs Motel in Strongs at Strongs Rd.

Great place.
Rate 40- 2-3 person room
65-70 for effieciencies.
Great Rates
It may not be the best quaility of rooms.
But who cares. Your only sleeping there.
Gas at the motel.
Bar at the motel.
Small store.
You can come in the middle of the night here too. as long as forewarned.
Talk to Pat or Irene.
Trail passes right through by motel, and Chippewa trail system is the best.

Visit Chippewasnowchasers.com for more info.

Diner across the street. Roxanne's Awesome

Black Bear Motel across the street is nice too.
Rooms are a little nicer, but only 1 effieciency.
Might cost a tad more.

Have stayed at most of the newberry motels, zellar's, super 8, comfort inn, best western. All nice nice rooms zellars is lesser quality all in the 50-70 range. Great location to trails, gas, food and booze.

Halfway lake resort north of newberry very nice cabins located of county road 505 and close to trail 9. Rates are little higher 99 per night but you have full kitchen facilities and your away from town. Excellent people and a great place to stay. Will take you off trail riding also. Located on a private lake so you don't need a fishing license either, not that you are up there to fish.

Update:

Had a chance to stay at Halfway Lake Resort this past weekend. Our cabin had two bedrooms with double beds and a set of bunkbeds in each room. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and utensils. Cabins were very clean and well laid out. Each cabin had a table and chairs with a sitting chair and sofa and a small TV with only local channels not cable or Sat (kids didn't like that). They have a great rec room with sauna and ample room for large gather and cooking facilities too. There is a hot tub for use. They have 8 cabins in all.

Ample parking for your rigs and we just parked our sleds next to our cabin. They are localed off county road 505 and Trail 9 is less then a mile from the cabins and Redz wolf inn is a mile and a half. The lake is spring feed so no riding or fishing on the lake is permitted. All in all I would rate this resort an 8+, 10 being out of this world and 1 being the dog house.

Stayed at the Paradise Inn last year.

Very nice and upkept. The parking lot is amazingly huge and was snow covered for unloading sleds. People were friendly there, no noise at all from the rooms.

Trails do suck for the first mile out of Paradise though normally. Is next to a bar if I remember correctly. The rates are 50-75.

Trailview Cabins, Timber Ridge, and Super 8 in Munising/Wetmore, Seacoast at Sand River Motel in Sand River, Willabee's in Brimley, Econo-Lodge Bridgeview in Mackinaw City (the trip we had to trailer to the Yoop because of the I-500).
