i'm ripping out my 121 track and putting in a 136, so what is the max lug height i can put in my 98 xc 700? i think it's 1.5

you better do some gear changes too. if not you are going to have a long track slug an your hands.
I would go with a 1.25 . also

Not positive, but i think a 136x1.25 or 136x 1.375 is max lug maybe a 1.5 non studded but I doubt it. I believe in any case you'll need to remove the tunnel protector strips also.

Do you plan on studding? Does your sled use the tunnel type heat exchangers?
You might look to see what Polaris offers in the way of tracks supplied for/with the SKS conversions they sell.
A lot of guys are buying non OEM tracks, only to discover they need to be notched for the heat exchangers. Once notched, the tracks start having problems with cracked/broken paddles that start in the area of the notches.....

I asked a poo mechanic yesterday when I was in there and he said you would need to change your drives . going from a 121 to a 136 and adding the 1.25 (max lug hight) he said you will realy notice the power diff. it will take alot more power to turn that track if you don't change the gear also.
