when going w.o.t. it`ll hit peak rpms at 74-7500 , but then it'll lose rpms down to about 7100. sled is bone stock with 2000 miles and i use shell advance snow ultra synthetic oil. (well known canadian oil) I haven't cleaned the apv's yet (i will soon) Do you think this would be the reason or should i get a clutch kit also(speed werx maybe?) Thanks.

I would first,
-service the valves/check cable lengths/operation
-service the clutches
-check clutch alignment
-check belt deflection
-check belt conditon
-is the track too tight?
I would bet that somewhere in there you'll find the culprit.
Rick.

I would say its a good idea to service the valves but thats not likely the problem...I would say worn belt......just because it looks good sitting in the secondary doesnt mean its not worn......secondly I would be looking at the springs in the clutches.........To maintain top performance they should be changed once a year.......

I had the exact same problem last year, so I took it to my dealer and checked over my sled and found nothing wrong, he called CAT and they told him they were having problems with the primary spring(a little weak) so he replaced it with a yellow spring part # 0646-229 , problem solved, what a differance with the new spring, you can bury the needle now very easy. Hope this helps.
happy sledding

Really blackfin? I just had my drive spring break on mine. They didn't have the purple spring so he put in a yellow/white one. It is a rocket out of the hole, but Top end seems to have suffered. So you say to change the driven spring to the 4th hole then? What hole is it in from the factory. Let me know. I was just gonna put the purple back in it. But maybe I'll wait and try to adjust the driven.

I cant see how that would work considering the difference in finish rate..Then to top it off you tightened the secondary......you should be over-reving big time..

well that is what I have in my sled and it works great , rpm 7400 +/- 50 great bottom end, great acceleration, and no problem buring the needle.
It works great for me thats all I can say.
