I have a 02 700 MXZ with 350 miles on it. Just for giggles I pulled a compresion check on my sled yesterday because the power seemed a bit off since last year. Sure enough I was down 20% on the PTO side. I tore the sled down and looked at he rings and sure enough some of the chrome flaked off the edge of the ring. The cylinders are fine just some discoloration from the leakage but no scarring (original honing is still visable). I showed my dealer the ring and he said the only time he sees missing chrome off the ring like mine is when the whole cylinder goes "bang". Any thoughts?

He was a typical dealer too! He told me to bring it in and he would fix it (still under warrenty). He said he would replace the jug as long as he was at it, and look at the other side. He said he wasn't that busy so I'd probably have my sled back in a week. It took me 3 hours and $38 to fix and that includes my 1hr drive time to pick up the parts. Just another dealer trying to suck money off Skidoo's warrenty program.
