Ski-doo oil is made by Castrol, but that doesn't mean its the same.Maybe ski-doo has castrol make the oil to there specs.Of course ski-doo wouldn't tell you if it was the same because they charge way more than castrol, but until someone can prove to me they are exactly the same I am not going to risk it and I will stay with ski-doo oil.

My brother and i switched to Klotz after the first tank of bomber oil was gone and we have had no problems, Klotz is far superior to Bomber oil or castrol, So is Amsoil. I along with many of our rideing buddies have been useing Klotz for years and have never had any motor's come apart, in my opinion Klotz is the best oil out there it's expensive but you get what you pay for.
Sorry but i don't know if castrol is the same as bomber oil, i know they make it but not sure if its the same spec or not. I dont like or use either of them.

I heard the same thing and my brother runs castrol in his 99 but i run amsoil in my sled. Amsoil is 3 bucks more than doo oil at the parts store so i can swing that. He hasnt had any problems yet but if he does it could be the oil or the fact we fished it out of the swamp last year too. As for you that is up to you 3 bucks for piece of mind is worth it to me but in the end its your choise.
BTW If anybody shops at Miejers have you noticed that they want a lot for doo oil. The yamalube and cat oil were like $20 a gallon which is about what the dealers charge but doo oil was $27 a gallon and i had to look twice and sure enough it was not synthetic..

Shell Advance oil is noted to leave a nice coating on the cam, this is from the local mechanic. I made the switch when the warranty ran out and have not regretted it, especially the since the dealer is charging 28 bucks a jug for the doo oil!

For the past 20 years I have used Ski Doo oil. The past 4 years I have used the synthetic. This year I switched to Amsoil. I`ve put 2500 miles on my SDI 800 so far using it. I am now a beliver in Amsoil.

I switched to Castrol this winter and have over 2000km and no problems. I am convinced the the doo oil and castrol are the same, they even smell the same. A buddy of mine burns Castrol in his ZL 800 and puts on about 4000 miles a year. He has over 12000 miles and good compression. He is a mechanic and does his own work and says that he only has to clean his power walves once every two years. Just my 2cents.

I used the Castrol up until I bought my Triple, when it was storngly suggested by the dude to switch to Amsoil Synthetic. If you're goig to spend the $ on Bombi get the Amsoil.

I don't like the Bombardier, or Castrol synthetics -- too gummy -- too stinky -- too expensive!
I DO like the Bombardier, or Castrol mineral oil -- RAVES go forever without cleaning, and it's not too stinky. They are NOT the same, but close enough, unless you're running a Rotary Valve sled, then you should use the Bombardier oil -- it has an anti-foaming agent specifically for the RV engines.
If you REALLY want a good semi-synthetic that smells AWESOME, burn some Ipone oil -- VERY expensive (too much for me), but the smell alone is worth it!
