Can anyone tell me what peak hp rpm is on the 94 xcr 440.I am helping a buddy who is having trouble with his,it seems to be revving at around 7400 rpm and he can only get about 70 mph out of it.I will check the compression on it later to-nite.Belt seems to be in good shape. What are the carb specs for this sled eg.main jet, idle speed, air screw settings.Any info that can be supplied would be greatly appreciated.

Have the clutches been cleaned lately? the 1994 XCR 440 has 290 jets and the air screw out 1 turn and max rpm is 8000, idle rpm is 1900, clutching is a blue spring and 10MB bushed weights and a 36 degree helix and a red spring in the #2 position on the secondary clutch, I would change that to a silver polaris spring in the #2 position it will pull a harder. the gears are 21 top and 39 bottom. Know if you have a XCR 440 SP the you have 330 jets and the idle rpm is 1600 and the air screw is turned out 1.5 turns and the clutching and gearing is the same. Make sure the belt is up a little on the secondary clutch, if it is not you will get a bog and loose rpms. I hope this will help you I took this information right out of my Polaris service manual.
