I have a ZR 900 sno pro now but I am kinda thinking about ordering the orange King Cat. I trail ride in New Brunswick, but If a fella shaved that track down to 1 1/4, would it ever hook up. That long of a track is pretty trail friendly too, awesome over the bumps, hooks and goes. What do all of you think about the King Cat as a trail sled?
Where I sled: Winter Park, Vail, Snowy's, Ear's . .
IMO, it'd be a terrible trail sled. Could even be getting to the point where it'd be a tough mountain sled to handle. But w/o riding something w/ that long of a track, i wouldn't know i guess.
I took a trip out to utah to do some mountain riding in january. we rented skidoo 800s and i rode both 144 and 151 tracks. generally we would ride the trail up into the mountains and branch off for some true mountain riding. I found that the longer track was much harder to steer on the trail, and the track on the king kat is 11 inches longer than the longest i rode, so there is no doubt in my mind that it would make a terrible trail sled. Frankly, i found that the longer track sleds were harder to handle even in the deep stuff, and i prefered the 144" track over all.
