I know my track is to tight on my sled, I am loosing alot of power and speed. But I can't loosen it anymore or the clips will touch back of the rails. The track has always been very tight when you put new sliders on. Also I put new drive sprockets on because the old ones were wore. Would it be alright if I just grinded the back of the rails off so I could loosen the track?? The track has no sag when you lift the back end up so I know it is way to tight. Also the track even though it is so tight it still slaps on the inside of the tunnel under the seat. What can I do?? ???

The track slapping under the seat I can live with I guess for the rest of the year but I want to loosen my track and race my friends tomorrow, I want all the power possible, so should I just take out the suspension and grind the back of the rails off like half an inch? there is alot of aluminum I can grind off.

I have a 1992 Indy 500 and never had this problem ? Did u put in bigger pulling wheels or a diffrent track example an extra tooth on the pulling wheels or is it the same type that was in her from the factory stock ? Do u have you'r suspension on the hard seting with the crank turn hard and the spring blocks turn on hard and did u lower the suspenion into the last braket holes and maybe you'r old shock is ####ed but i can't figure out why you'r track and u say it's been like this sence u both it ? if u could give me some more info i might be able to help u better

okay
I put brand new 9 tooth drivers the same size as the old worn out ones. It has new sliders. The suspension is bolted to the tunnel on the bottom holes front and back. The suspension is set on soft (closest hole to front on rails) and the springs are on low because when I set them on hard the plastic holders that the spring is adjusted on just breaks off. The nut to tighten the springs is just over halfway tight. I had the suspension on hard ( the bolts in the 3rd hole on rails) and the spring on hard and it still was way to tight.
It has a kimpex aggressor track # 04-948-10k
It is was kinda dark when I read the numbers. Hope I got them right
Also here is a pic... The back of the rails rub in the clips if I loosen the track anymore. The track tensioner you can see how far I loosened it from where the locking nut is. You can see the track is a little loose because I loosened it to take the outer bogie off.
Is it okay if I just grind the very back of the rails off?? It doesn't look like it will hurt anything.

thats really strange.

You do realize that a 04-948-10K is a 131" track right?

Are you running a 131" skid?

Sounds like you may have misread the numbers.

How about double checking the numbers and re-posting.

I rechecked the numbers and they are 04-948-10k.
It is the skid original from my 1990 indy 500. You must have got something mixed up when you checked what size it was. I am positive it is 04-948-10k

I think his reference to 131" is just a typo. I just looked it up and the 04-498-10k is definitly 121". I beleve your problem is that both the front and rear are bolted into the bottom tunnel holes. This moves the skid frame very far away from the drive axle taking up a lot of the adjustment.
