Two of my friends and I wanted to get a serious trail ride in for the end of the season. We left the camp in St. Johnsbury, VT at 5a.m. Arrived in Pittsburg, NH around 11:00 with 116 miles on at that point. Then heading to Rangeley, stopped by evrivomental cop, said my buddies were clocked at 62, and his cut off for tickets is 60, says he had me at 59. So I got a warning and they got 72bucks to pay. Anyway, we made it to rangeley around 1:00 with 200 miles on. We went back the way we came, but when we got to our last gas stop the station was closed, and we couldnt make it back to St. jay without more fuel. So a girl at a restaurant tells us to ride to the store downtown, "you just gotta go down the side of the road a little ways". Ok we do so, following many tracks from others, when a cruiser pulls up along side us,,,,"you cant be here, go back to the trail, you cant get gas here" the cop went along to tell us we could be arrested for tresspassing etc. But he ended up letting us get gas since we were locals and didnt know. So to end my story, we arrived back at the camp with 398 miles on, rode around for a few minutes to round it off to 400 miles for the day. Got back at 10pm. This was the longest ride I have ever done, my old record was 280. Great way to end a great season.

They got the tickets about a half our from the maine border. So it was a NH enviro cop. The limit is 45,, he said he gives tickets to anyone going over 60 on that section of trail. I think its great to give the yahoos tickets, but me and my buddies are very carefull. I always go to the out side of the berm on all blind corners, and usually i find some untouched groomed trail on the outside edge of the corner, I can never understand why there are so many people who think its ok to go around corners using the middle of the trail. At least 3 times this past weekend, if I had been riding anywhere but the very side of the trail I would have been hit by idiots coming onto the wrong side of the trail. I love trail riding, but I find myself having my doubts about if its worth the risk, its start to not be fun when I go into all blind corners with a fear of getting hit.

You are not joking!I'am in two clubs up here and we work hard all summer to trim back the tree limbs to allow more snow to hit the trails and cut back the under brush to make it enjoyable. But it seems the nicer we make the trails for touring the faster these animals go.Sad to say, but another death this weekend up in Aroostock county Maine. And riding on the right like you said is a life saver.Thats why when I lead, I honestly would rather ride at night, for the headlight reason!Glad you had a good trip!!!
