I have a 2000 MXZ which I put an sc10-III in. I also installed a fresh C46 from a 1999 440x, and the matching piggyback front shocks from the acc. catalog.Front I'm happy with, but the back C46 I find has too much rebound damping, as I am not using the 440x rear springs, and don't plan to.Compression I can live with fine. Anyone have any good shock setups for the C46?? I just want to remove about 30% maybe? of the rebound damping.I have all the perf. books, but don't want to pull the shock apart a dozen times,I want to ride! Anyone have any good setups they could share?? Thanks!

my thoughts would be call carver performance and have them take some of the rebound out of the shock. THey service Fox, HPG, and Ryde FX and ive done work with them in the past, they have graet service and dont charde an arm and a leg.
Any way, i was checkin out your pics, how did you polish your tunnel (and keep it polished) and how much did you pay for the sc-III suspension(and how was the installation?)

I don't want to ship across the border if i can. Plus I have a friend here that has all the stuff to rebuild them, just doesn't have any good setups.
Polished the tunnel with Mothers, and give it a touch up by hand after 4 or 5 rides,stays real good.
paid 600 can. for the suspension, from Georges garage in Matheson, up by timmins. Install was a bolt in, but some people say the rear mount hole should be moved ahead 1/4in. I'll do that this year and try it. Worked real well.

if you have someone to do the work, its even better. Carver can put together and ship the valve stack to you. The stack is 20$ american. The C46 is a great, strong shock, w/e you end up doing, it will work great.

The real problem with your shock is the valving piston has 4 large by-pass ports that cause the shock to at funny. I valve suspensions for top WSA sno-cross riders. Your best bet is to purchase a shock piston for a 19  96-2004 YZ 125-250-250f-450f motocross bike. They all take 46mm pistons, but moto shocks don't use by-pass ports. If you need a piston, I have them in stock. Also, most suspension shops say they work on all brands, but really their guys who bought a FOX repair video, your shocks are very expensive to be ginne pigs. Thanks Billy Edmonson, Owner

Oops too late now allready done and back in the sled. I tried the rebound stack from a 01 sled, guess I'll see how it feels now.

I've yet to see a Moto shock that does not employ bypass bleed. Just in case you didn't realize it, that is what the rebound adjuster is controlling on those shocks. Are you saying that when you build a C46 rear shock you are setting it up with no bleed at all?

Yes, motocross shocks do have a by-pass port through the shafts. Sleds shocks too often use by-pass ports on the piston because of lack of shaft ports. But they also use the bleed ports for performance which would work if you rode perfect trails. If a shock has 4 by-pass ports, it has very soft low-speed compression and fast rebound. All I was saying was remove the stock piston and try using a piston with less ports. Then you will be using valving to control damping, not orifice damping.

Is it a drilled hole or is it a slot in the shim sealing surface?
