Ive been riding ZRs for 7 years now and looking to once again buy a new sled, but i must say i am torn between an F7 and a MXZ REV style. NOT looking for brand bashing ,just an honest opinion from someone w/ experience who has ridden both of these machines. Please include what u currently ride. Thanx

I am partial to SD, but they are both very good sleds. If it were down to those 2 sleds I would answer that question with another question. Who has the best local dealer for you. Which dealer gives the best service. Im in So. NH and am familiar with the dealers around here. SD and AC both have some great local dealers, both have mediocre and terrible dealers around also. I have 5 SD dealers all from 20-35 miles from where I live 4of them are awsome(Bickfords, Morrisons, DiSilva, and Freedom) the other nameless one is terrible. With AC there are only 3 real good dealers but they are either too far for conveince(Livingstons and Freedom) or are in a horrible location( A1 in Manchester)....great dealer, hard to get to and no parking. There are 2 or 3 AC dealers very close by, but I wouldnt set foot in the places.
Other than that the only true way to know what sled is best...for you...is by trying them out and see what fits you best.
Good luck
Todd

I have not ridden an F7, but I have ridden the Rev. I have 2 ski doos in the ZX chassis and a Blade. First off, what kind of riding do you want to do? If you want to launch fast and be the first across the lake or like to drag, from what I have read, the F7 is the fastest. Based on what I have read also, it seems to be a fantastic sled overall also. There were problems with the 03's, but I would expect them to be cured with the 04's. I would think if you bought it you would not be unhappy.
I don't know where you live, but it seems to me that everywhere I go at the end of the day there are miles and miles of huge ugly moguls to ride home through. To make it worse, your tired from a long day of riding. This is where the Rev shines. You do have to stand up, and you will feel it in your legs, but you can just attack those moguls! Its lightweight and fun (as I'm sure the Cat is too). There are concerns for those who are very tall, or have knee or hip problems. You can pretty much tell if it might be a problem by sitting on the sled for a few minutes at a dealer. If you have back problems, or want to avoid them, this is another area where the Rev shines. No more back hits. I think the rider forward position is the best way to go if there are no physical limitations to standing up and you ride occaisionally on rough trails. Cat and Polaris seem to agree going to rider forward positions this year for snowcross.
I can say that Doos are good quality reliable sleds. The good news is that your going to be as happy flies on sh!# no matter which sled you buy! You can't loose!

my experiance on the rev is in the field behind the dealer,,,,,I had the same time on the firecat and I went with the firecat,,,,I am a little biased towards cat,,,so I know that that had an influence,,,,,,had I been with yami or polaris, I still think that I would have taken the f7,,,, maybe I would have liked the rev different if I had rode it longer?!?!?!

Thanks for all the info everyone, it is helpful and has given me things to consider . They both sound like great sleds, and i think I'm leaning towards trying (buying) the rev. baisicly because of rider position. only problem is the dealer closest to me has a bad rep. Im going to check them out anyway. Still a gray area that makes me unsure, like ring problems , idles low (no reverse), awesome sled, cold to ride , awesome sled, thumb throttle is stiff, bad fuel mi., awesome sled etc. and yes AC has issues too, awesome sled. I'm lookng for a sled that would be most comfortable on long rides (especially at the end of the day when the trails are trashy) w/ performance. Still undecided.....

if the dealer has a bad rep, dont go there. I drive about 80 mile to get to my cat dealer. I have 2 that are closer and due to poor customer service, I will never use either again. My new dealer has really taken care of me and I will continue to use them. If you want the rev, go for it, it is a good sled, but drive a little farther and get a dealer that will be there for you when you need it.....

I was in the same boat last year. My wife wanted a new sled.So I had the luxury of being able to ride both machines and make a choice. With all the hype of the Firecats,I wanted to give it a chance.So....I rode my brother in laws wifes F5,the sled felt unstable, hard to keep in a straight line, tippy, out of control, really had to work it.I also drove a 04 F6,that was a much better ride, but still was not to my liking. We ended up getting the Rev,hands down better ride, easy to ride, sit back and enjoy.

I'd go with Polaris.... but if I had to choose between the two I would DEFINATELY go with Ski Doo. I have heard of SO MANY recalls, service bulletins, and problems with the Firecats, the latest being frame breakage problems... see cat section.
Hope this helps!

I have been a Polaris man for my whole lifetime.......Last year I rode my buddys Rev X 600......................
I SOLD my 01 Xc Sp 600 and Bought a Mxz X Rev 600 with the SDI motor in it.
I also rode my friends f7. It was a decent sled, but it just didn't give me any confidence. It just wanted to drive itself and felt NERVOUS. I was afraid to take it up very fast, because i thought I was gonna crash it. BUT it had MAD POWER! The clutching was so ungodly slow and lazy that I had to get off of the sled. I mean the throttle response was comparable to a "Diesel engine". But its a overall good sled.
