Dealer said do not put oil in tank because the computer will sense the extra oil and do things to compensate plus it also leans the motor out,you do not want to run lean on a new motor

My dealer premixed my first tank. Yet, I have heard different opinions on this. Different opinions seems to be the theme with just about everthing having to do with the SDIs. I am a sales manager and get to travel around a lot. While I am on the road I like to stop in to different dealers and ask them questions. I have heard nothing but inconsistant answers to questions like this one. Some say premix, some way don't. Some say there is a low RPM problem with the SDI that SkiDoo is working on, others say they know nothing about it. Some say to program the SDI with one computer, others say use a different computer.

Don't get me wrong, I love my new sled. But does SkiDoo offer their dealers any training before releasing a new product?

they do, some go and some don't. i knew about the computer program to dial in the 2004 SDI's from the dealer i go to long before some of the guys here were saying their dealer knew nothing of it.

The reason different answers are coming from different dealers is because most dealers approach new products the wrong way. Take the dealer in timbuc two that sells everything from soup to nuts. Do you think they take the time to make sure they know every detail about setting up the new SDI machines? or do they bother to read all of the bulletins? I doubt it. Do you also think that they are a Bombardier Platinum Certified shop? doubt that too. Next comes the buyer, taking it for granted that their dealer knows the ins and outs. When in fact they don't. My dealer is one of the few Platinum Service shops around in the Toronto area. All of these SDI questions have answers. Instead of finding out, many owners and dealers are playing guessing games when they don't need to. Anyway, my dealer spoke with the engineering department, not the "customer service" people to get the answers. Here's the skinny. Engine is to broken in with XPS II added to the first full tank of gas. Don't top up with fresh gas until tank is almost empty. Also, only XPS II is to be used in the resevoir, not mineral first then XPS. Do not use Bombardier "PREMIX" oil for first tank adder, use the XPS. Your dealer should have done this for you in PDI. Breakin time is 6.5 hours. Use minimum 91 octane. As far as this rough idle business goes. People wake up. I don't know about your area, but mine is +10 Celsius. Please explain how a brand new engine that is tight as a drum that is meant to run in -10 C temps, plus is being forced to run on more oil then it should be idle smooth? Mine idles quite good considering all of this. The other thing that is driving me nuts is all these people complaining about being forced to use high test gas and XPS II oil. People want the best of both worlds. They want to own the latest, high technology, but don't want to take the manufacturers rules for running it. As for this stupid law about not being forced into buying this or that. Give it up. It's getting to the point in the USA now where you can't buy a coffee at McDonalds without having to sign a waiver that you won't sue them for your own stupidity if you spill on your a$#. Bombardier gave everyone a free extra year engine warranty. Be happy about that. Remember, Bombadier is clear about being able to change the specs anytime they want. Also remember that the machines we saw in the spring were prototypes, not final product. Specs change. Nothing we can do.

my two cents.
