What is the best way to drain the old oil to make way for Amsoil synthetic?

Thanks

Chaincase I presume? Unscrew the drain plug and let it go.

If it's the Injector oil that you're talking about, here's what I did just last weekend (OK, two weekends ago). I have an electric drill-powered oil pump that I use to suck engine oil out of my boat motor for oil changes there. I used that to suck oil out of the reservoir, but it took a long time, wasn't too efficient. I got frustrated with the slow process, put the "receive" container on the ground, rested the pump atop that container with the suction tube still in the reservoir, and went about other family-related chores.

I came back a coupla hours later, and to my almost horror, that "receive" container was just on the verge of spilling all over the garage floor, COMPLETELY full. Apparently, after I stopped pumping, siphon action continued the flow, and the reservoir was 'pert near empty. In went 3 quarts of Amsoil AIO, and I'm ready to rock.

OK, I'm not ready to rock, I still have to stud my track and replace the Motion Control shocks w/ newly-aquired HPG Racing pups, but that's for another post...

Just did this a couple weeks ago. Went to the local autoparts store and bought a battery hydrometer for 2.99. Pulled off the hose and took a longer piece of hose from my water softner (about 12") Put it on the hydrometer and started suckin. Filled a 2 liter pepsi bottle. Dont let the oil go all the way down and risk getting air in the injection line.

You don't have to take it all the way down. I made sure mine was close to empty, put a little Amsoil in, ran it again and then filled it up with Amsoil. No need to totally drain that and waste the oil.

I always heard that it's OK to mix regular with synthetic oil. I would just run the regular stuff low and then dump the Amsoil in on top of it to switch. That's what I did and it worked fine.

If you have to remove the oil for some reason a gear oil plunger works great.

If your concerned about mixing brands or types, this shouldnt be a problem. Just run it down and dump in the new stuff.

Good luck

Thanks for the replies. Has anyone experienced any trouble switching over from the Bombardier mineral to Amsoil synthetic as far as mixing them?
