I've seen 170 on the gauge - bone stock back in the 1999 season - never tested that with a radar or anything.... Gearing and sprocket pitch = speed!!! No matter what the engine size - with taller gears a 600 could be faster than an 800 given it has enough room!

I saw 110 mph on the speedo never tested on radar. That was stock except for studs.

Mine ran 103 on the gun in about 2500' it wasn't shaved ice or anything special it was on hard hard packed snow and I weight about 210 with my gear if not more. It all depends on the individual sled etc. There were ultras and other 700 Mxz only running 95 to 98. It just depends on how the sled is set up and dialed in and the day you do it. We were out at the same spot the weekend before and only ran 95 -97 mph.
I didn't have anything in it at that time for clutching just stock
It's hard to compare from day to day track to track, could be windy warm cold but I guess it is safe to say you should see consistent 90 mph readings up to I guess possible 105 or 108 in the right conditions
Just My opinions

I have a 99 MxZ 600 wiht mods such as a clutch kit, v-force reeds, heads shaved, 144 studs, and a B&B. I have topped it out on the like at 106 wiht all the mods. So Im guessing that it will peak its eyes over a buck stock.

I agree 160km 100miles but if the conditions are real good you might see more. Ive seen 168km on a 600 Grand touring on the gauge. And skidoos gauges are like micrometers.

Do you guys think the 500ss will perform the same or have their been improvements made (besides the rev chassis) to give it an edge.

The guy I bought my sled from said he hit 104mph on the radar. He's about 200lbs.I really can't say if it was stock or not. The 500ss is suppose to be the same engine isn't it?
