I was coming back from the U.P. last Sunday and got the bright idea of trying to cross the Straights of Mackinaw on the sled. :hallo1: Its only about 5 miles and if you picked a calm day it should be possible. But then I noticed the large ice shelfs forming along the shore lines and got a even better idea. In the middle of summer while everyone is swimming on the shores of Lake Michigan, I pull up with the trailer and unload the sled, then proceed to attempt the crossing, wouldn't this get some strange looks w00t . Maybe even some news coverage, how about it, think the Mxz 700 will pull it off?

Being as windy as the straits are is the water there ever really calm? Well if you didn't make it you'd have a long hard swim back in :dazed: :christmas:

I don't think i have ever seen it calm either. Might want to dodge the freighters too.

Henry Bieda rode a 'doo across Lake Ontario in the late 80s. Around 30 odd miles.

sounds pretty cool to me. some calm water and you be acrross before you knew it. I think someone should make a race out of it. I do think with the right condition your seven hundred would do it no problem. they love the water.

I've ridden a stand up jetski kaw 550 under the bridge several times. The water on the straits is like a big mixer of several currents. Good Luck

It's totaly do-able, but I think that waves and the boat wakes from freighters would be the biggest problem - if you see them coming, you could probably hit them at an angle and ride right over them!

ummmm? I wouldn't mind your 700, instead of just letting it sink. Why don't you just give it too me first?
I don't think you will make it across. It would be a site to see though.
