I have created a form letter for you all to cut and paste. Please please take a few minutes and send letters to our congressman and women, governor, and senators even if you aren't from VT! This is a huge issue and you can read the whole thread at: http://www.hardcoresledder.com/forums/inde...showtopic=19506

I have also put tips and listed all contact info below.

Happy Trails

Dear Governor Douglas,
I am writing to you because I am deeply concerned about the future of Snowmobiling to the State of Vermont. Vermont Snowmobiling generates more than $500 million dollars to the Vermont Economy and even more revenues with the trickle down effect and Vermont dollars staying in local economies. Recently, huge sections of trails in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont have been purchased by a private landowner and they have blocked all snowmobling through these areas. The land was 13,677 acre parcel owned by John Hancock Mutual Life Ins. Co. and sold for almost $4 million to LIADSA Investments, LP of NY City. Land Vest is representing the new owners and they have banned access on all trails. This is also happening all over the State of Vermont specifically in Barnet, Peacham and other areas of the State of Vermont. This is affecting small businesses in the NEK and Vermont. Vermont is losing revenues, losing tourists, and creating a negative image for itself as a State. This is a negative and detrimental impact to our State. I urge you to take action on this critical issue and open up these lands for recreational and snowmobile use for future generations.

Sincerely,

Your Name

TIPS ON WRITING LETTERS:

Contacting your legislators? Fantastic! Please keep in mind that a legislator perceives a correlation between the amounts of effort you put into personal communication and how likely you are to remember the legislator's response at election time—that is, a personal letter sent via snail-mail speaks louder than an e-mail message.
Best Method: Use the points in our letter, but put them in your own words and explain why the issue is of personal importance to you. Write your letter on your own letterhead and mail it.

2nd Best Method: Cut and paste our letter onto your own letterhead, add a few personalized sentences, and mail it or fax it.

3rd Best Method: Print our letter on plain paper, sign, and send as is.

4th Best Method: Use e-mail feature to send an e-mail make sure to change the name for each email address you send to and add a few personal touches if possible
TIPS
1. Don’t swear or use vulgar language
2. Use your spell check
3. Don’t threaten with I won’t vote I am a taxpayer…they already know that…
4. Try to use some facts and not be too vague
5. Write about one issue
6. Provide contact information
In summary, sending an e-mail is far better than not contacting your legislator at all, but most congressional offices do not yet have the capability to respond to the overwhelming amount of e-mail they receive. By writing a letter, you will be making more of an impact and are almost guaranteed to receive a response. The more individualized your letter is, the bigger impact you'll make.
