Just wondering what the fuel to oil ratio should be. Not sure if this matters but it is on an MXZ 800. I've been told (X) amount of miles per quart, but that would vary since not all sleds get the same fuel milage. Gallons of gas to quarts of oil should be more accurate correct??????

Your right you wouldn't want to use mileage since that vary's alot for conditions, rider, etc. You would want to use the same units for calculations, for example liters to liters, gallons to gallons. This to give you a equal ratio and I think most sleds run around 50:1 to 60:1 (fuel il)

So, if I'm doing this correctly, I burned 10.5 gallons of gas and went through 1.5 quarts of oil my math should go like this........
10.5 x 4 = 42 (number of quarts of gas)
42 x 1.5 = 63
so my ratio is (63:1) correct?
4-strokes would be so much easier. LOL.

I dont think that is the correct way to calculate the ratio.
10.5 x 4 = 42 quarts
So that gives you a 42:1.5 ratio to get a ##:1 ratio you would divide each side by 1.5.
42 / 1.5 = 28
Therefore you are have a fuel oil ratio of 28:1
You can easily turn down the oil pump to get your sled around the 50:1 range.

I try to set it so that I am using about 1 qt for 10 gallons. That is really 40:1, but if you jet a tad rich on your fuel, there's a couple extra ponies in it for ya. And I know you like ponies.

Why, whatever do you mean idooski?????????   After doing my math correctly I burned 10.7 gallons and used 1.25 quarts that makes about 34:1 so I think I will adjust it a little more and check it again. The spring idea seemed to work on the sticky oil pump though.

Sometimes a motor might have hard place to oil to, for example a outer bearing that is drip fed. The oem might have the oil turned up high just to get oil there and usage is high than normal. Another one is where the oil is injected into the fuel before it hits the carbs. The can be a big delay in getting the wfo oil to the motor while it's actually at wfo, #### poor system IMO, but the oem again turns the oil up to compensate. Bottom line, it's a good thing to keep track of your oil but don't adjust the pump too far from the oem spec unless you know the motor.
