I'd like to know what kinda oil consumption people are gettting on their 04 800's. Mine is awfull. Rode yesterday for 220 miles and I had to add a liter of oil to get home!! I put in about 65 liters of fuel and almost 4 liters of oil. i just got the sled back from the 10hour check and one of the things checked of on the check list was to calibrate the oil pump to 20mm. This is crazy, I haven't check for my self yet what the pump is set for but i will be tonight.

It seems like oil consumption on the revs is the major cause for concern. I have read and posted on different forums where this topic has come up.

I'm getting 2.5 quarts of oil for every 10.5 gallons of gas My wife's DLX 600 used less than a quart covering the same distance. At this rate I will have to "oil up" every trip I take.

I know DOO doesn't want the reputation of engine trouble like the KITTIES had last year with the F7, but this is a bit ridiculous!

Service Bulletin Please

I did a quick calculation from my recent trip and it appears that I am using oil at about a 33:1 ratio.

1,970 ounces of fuel used in 200 miles.
60 ounces of oil used in 200 miles.

1,970 / 60 = 32.8333 or 32.83:1 ratio.

This seems a little rich but not terrible. Definitely better than what you guys are getting.

I put 225 miles on my sled when the low oil light came on. I looked and the level was just a little below the 1/4 mark on the tank. I haven't done any calculations but this seems like alot of oil. At least the light comes on early, My 03 was almost sucking air when the light came on.

I ride a 03 Doo Summit HighMark 800HO 151 track. My dealer told me two tanks of gass to oil fillup..I figured it to be about 1 quart to every 125 miles. Dang oil is spendy.....

(800 h.o.adrenaline) I was gettin only 70 mi. per qt. I adjusted my cable to 19 1/2mm and it made a drastic improvment! I will check my ratio when I fill up and see how much better it got.
My oil says (amsoil synthetic) to mix at a 50:1 ratio (1qt to 12 gal) but I'm gonna shoot for about a 40:1 ratio (1qt to about 10 gal) and I should still be on the "safe" side of things.AND should be able to get 100 to 120 mi per qt.......then I'll be ok with it !

I am pleased with fuel milage..AVG. 12.5 mpg no matter how I ride it!

I was told last night that we should be at 4 tanks of gas per tank of oil which works out to 40:1. Those that are looking at the pre-mix ratios, Don't! Premix ratio has nothing to do with injectoin ratio. On oil injected machines the oil is injected in different spots ie crank bearings as well as other locations. I wil be slowly adjusting mine till i get to 40:1.
