I had a friend bring over a new/old John Deere Liquifire that we were gonna fix up,,, well I have been fixing like crazy and have some parts I need to order, but I have no clue what year this sled is??? its either a 76-77-78, but some parts are good not good for all 3 years,,,

where is the serial number located,,,,I have looked what seems to be everywhere and cant find it,,,,,,,,

also, if anyone knows how to get ahold of a driven spring for this sled, let me know,,,,thanks in advance
Brian

Check under the seat on the tunnel. There should be a plate or there will be a number stamped into the metal somewhere. If its painted good luck!!

do you mean to physically take the seat off??? because there is nothing on the tunnel of this sled anywhere,,,,, I was told that if this was a factory replaced tunnel, there wouldnt be a serial number on it. It was registered before, but I have no clue how with no serial number,,,, all I have is the number on the block,,,,unless it is actually underneath the seat

I do have a tag on the motor,,,,its located right above the recoil and it simply states its a ccw 440,,,, so that narrows it down to a couple years since its s 440 liquifire that was made by ccw,,,, we think its a 76, but not 100% sure,,,,

well its either a 76-77-78 liquifire,,,, thats the only ones that ccw made for deere,,,,it isnt the 78 as the body style really seemed different,,, so now we have it down to 2 years,,, the paint colors on the 76 matches this one so thats what we think it is,,,, I am finding that parts for both the 76 and 77 are the same parts!!!!!!

so maybe we wont worry about it,,,, he can just use the prevous sleds registration sticker to reregister it,,,,

the older seld usually only came with a 5 to 10 digit vin# located on the right hand side of the tunnel around were your foot goes...and if you look in jc winntey cat.. and you'll find parts for the oldies
