Over the weekend, my wife and 6 year old daugher went through the ice and sunk our Ski Doo Touring Fan. Luckily, I was right there and got them out and over to the local bar in short time so they could warm up and dry off. I went back and with the help of about 10 other guys from the bar, got the snowmobile out (of course I bought everyone drinks when we got back). I left it sit outside at the bar over night and picked it up in the morning and took it over to the local dealer. Just talked to the dealer and the sled is back in running order, except the seat is soaking wet. They took the seat apart and are drying it out. However, I could not get a straight answer on how long it would take to dry. I was told "it may be a week or two". With a trip planned for next weekend, I am wondering if the seat will be ready. Someone must know how long it takes a fully saturated seat to dry. The seat cover and foam have been removed. Shouldn't it only take a few days? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

With everything removed it should only take 2-3 days next to a good heat source, shorter if you squeeze it a couple times a day.

Glad to hear everyone is okay. The sons sunk a Ultra a few years back, and next to a big old woodstove took about 24hrs to dry. The seat that is, his pride took a couple of weeks

Glad all are ok. I sunk my 2up last year. The seat took about 3weeks to dry?? I had it by a woodstove, over heat vents, squeezed it until the water was not dripping onto the floor and put it in the drier. In the meantime I bought a seat from a snowmobile wreckers for a $100 and use that. The seat will not dry fully until the summer when you hang it. Good Luck!

Put a piece of plywood over it and run i over with your car, it'll squeeze all the water out and will dry really fast.

As paidincash said the plywood system works well. It doesn't remove all the water. You could build a cage using plastic with the foam inside it and attach that to a de-humidafier and it will suck out the moisture out in a few days.

Some good ideas here. But as I thought about, what about re-wetting the seat foam with Rubbing Alcohol or Acetone, and then drive over it with the plywood idea. Any remaining fluid will be a combination of water and the fast drying sub-agent. Just a quick thought on a lonely Friday night, in a cold dark room, with a PC.

I think acetone would destroy the foam.
