I donno, I'll believe it when I see it.
at those speeds you will have to increase HP sigificantly to gain even 1 or 2 mph.
This type of thing has been going on in the bike world for years now.
Every year the open class (900+cc) bikes get more powerful, the problem is an extra 10hp will only get you about 1 or 2 more mph at over 150mph.
I'll use bikes as an example, these numbers are all documented 3rd party dyno figures from the same chassis dyno and top speed numbers are from the Hondaland test center's top speed test facility.
2002 Yamaha R6: 600cc
Power: 96.7HP at the rear wheel
Top speed: 158.9mph
2002 Yamaha R1: 1000cc (same engine top end as the RX-1)
Power: 136.3HP at the rear wheel
Top Speed: 168mph
As you can see, the R1 needs close to 40 additional hp just to go 10mph faster.
These bikes are nearly identical in design, are within 10lbs of each other in weight and have the same coeffient of drag.
As speed rises, so do power requirements, there is a mathematical calculation that you can use to determine this, I just can't remember it off hand.
I'm not sure what the top speed of the old mach z was but I'm pretty sure the 809 motor made about 155hp give or take a few.
if the old Mach has a top speed of 120mph, for the new Mach to do 130 it would have to make upwards of 185hp
I'm sure someone will decide to pick my explanation apart, I'm just trying to be objective
DP
figures taken from sportrider magazine.

When my brother (Machzzzz1) bought his new Mach the dealer told him that Doo gaurenteed him 128mph.
Im not saying this is true or isn't. This is what Doo told my dealer. So we will see,
It will be darn fast. :hallo1:

128 is very fast but like most have said the old machz could pull in the 120 range then mabe but i would think that the twin will have nothing on the old triples. it should have much more bottom end power but then its to get the beast to hook

Remember, when the 800 twins first hit the market everyone was expecting them to keep up to the 800 triples, and that never happened...

180-200 horse 3x3 sleds that are strapped, geared to run on ice do a 130mph, not 160[ish] horse single piped twins. This is like the rx-1 hype a couple of years ago...
