I have a 96 ski doo formula z.

Question 1
When my brake lights were working, when ever I hit the brakes my oil light came on. Is that normal? (oil level was good)

Question 2
My brake light went out completely and my low oil light is staying on (oil level was good). The brake light does not come on when it is running or when I hit the brakes. I did switch bulbs and still nothing. Any ideas what I should check.

Thanks for any replies.

Oil light is suppose to come on when you hit the brake. check the brake lite switch and wiring to the bulb.Does the tail lamp work?

At the end of last season I had to replace the little gray switch that is in the brake lever, you wouldn't even know it was there unless you had to replace it. Mine would work of and on and then the lights when out all together. On the brake cable, if you pull back the rubber boot that connects to the lever you will see the switch, unplug and unscrew. It might be somthing to check into, the only negative is the switch is about $30 so if you could swipe one off a different sled to check, that would be a plus. Good luck Jason

get a low voltage tester and see if you have power at the taillight. Check it while it is running and depress the brake. There should be a plug underneath your seat, see if you have power their. Then chack power out of brake switch, then power going in. Chances are it is the brake switch but sheck to if power is getting their.

Skidoo's brake light on the dash comes on when the brake is depressed to let you know that the low oil light is working

Thank you all for your replies. Some of the season I did have trouble with the brake light staying on, all I would do is tap on that switch under the brake lever. But I was confused when the brake light went out completely.I will check all that and let you all know.
Again thank you.

better than a voltage tester use a wire tester and follow the wire back to until you have power.
