It's a big state... it varies. Typically get first ride in november-december, last ride in april-may timeframe, but again, we've had some varied conditions these last few years. Also, there's several hundred miles (actually over 1000) difference between northern AK and southcentral. I live in southcentral.

It only Oct. 31st. We went riding to day and the conditions are asome and its snowing like crazy in fairbanks now. Were Jetted for 10-30 degrees. Man the RMK is great!!

I've seen the Eskimos in the villages ride all summer before ATVs when sleds had just bogies and air coolers. I ride as soon as there is three or more inches of snow and the ground is firm. That it usually in september. The best riding is right now though. Long days, warm temps, lots of sunshine and usually good weather with plenty of packed trail and snow here in the interior. It snows every month of the year somewhere in Alaska. I remember watching it snow on the 4th of July in Kotzebue!

Hey supersportdave, isn't it Summit Lake and not lake summit? I could be wrong! Help me out here?

We have been getting snow on the pass for the past week. Maybe in a few more weeks we can start riding. In town the season usually starts middle Nov. As for the end. That depends. This summer I quit ridding out the front door come 1st of May. Got tired of having to ride accross the river to get to the snow. Up on the pass I rode my last ride the 4th of July. The snow was just to soft.
