I'm going to be buying aluminum backers. I found some on clearance that have a dimension of 1.125. These are a lot cheaper then the backers that are 1.250. Does the extra 1/8 inch really make a differance in support or pull outs? Also does thickness make a differance?

I guess i wasn't expecting that much of a differance. I'll go with the larger. Just incase any one is wondering the larger of the 2 are Woodys and, well i won't bash the other brand. I shouldn't have even considered it $40.00 for the good backers verse the cost of a new track!

Very rare does a pull through ever happen because of the backer. Normally you will just get the corners peeling up. The pull through is because the head of the stud isn't big enough. My new Extremes are a true 1 inch diam. I would be careful with the larger backer, and make sure it's just not thinner too. Then you may end up with a lot of bending.
