Looking for your help. I have a 02 ZR600 EFI X-Country. Runs very strong but feel it has more. What are you guys running for Helix, Springs and Weights? I was told not to gear it in the midwest. I am pulling out about 83-8400 RPMs. I had it out in the mountains running 48.4 weights and it seemed sluggish-thinking dropping to 47.4s with maybe a 53/51?? Would like to know what works to save the headaches. Thanks!!!

I have a 98 ZR 600 EFI and ride in the West also. A lot different than out East, whci I find most kits are developed for. I have done some experimenting with a local shop and came up with a good all arond setup for lowland trails and some higher altitudes.

Orange/White primary - engages about 4000 which I prefer over anything higher. Sled pulls enough to work with it.
Green Secondary.
54/46 SLP "mountain" helix (whatever that means?)
Running 53 gram weights and it pulls really hard on the trails. I might drop to 52 for all around riding as I find the 53's just a bit too much. I had started with 51's and needed a little more. Would go to about 50 grams for anything over 4000 to 5000 feet. Although I was still good at 4000 feet on one trip with the 51's. Kept and eye on the tach.

With the D&D pipe and chip combo, this little sled rocks! I have no probelm running with 800's.....up to a certain point, but on trail it's fun, fun, fun!!

I have an 02 ZR800 EFI CC now and am looking to set up the same thrill factor, but I still love my little 600.

By the way, why wouldn't you gear it down. If your conditions are anything like what we have in Alberta. very rarely are you going to hit that "perfect" condition of icy flat surface, really cold day, and a long WOT run. I plan on gearing down the 800 to get more shift out of the clutches.
