Any guesses on how long it would take a novice to change out a track and rear shock on an edge chassis '03 SKS?
Is there anything I can screw up or is it pretty straightforward?

How mechanically inclinded are you? Do you have a sled lift or a good way to raise the ### end of the sled up a ways? What tools do you have?
I have changed a track out in a matter of an afternoon at a leasure pace. I'm sure, busting hump it could be done much faster, but a couple beers, watching football - nothing gets done fast. Having an additional set of hands makes things a lot easlier to. The hardest part for me was getting the rear skid to line back up when I put it back in. Aside from that everything was streight forward.

depends on how much beer you drink and how fast you drink them.. the first time changing a track is fairy frustrating. but so is the first time for everything, id plan on two days of leasure work, as for the rear shock.. its a peice of cake, ive changed them in the snow with the susp. still in the sled in a matter of 5 -10 min

just watch the seals on the chaincase. top and bottom. one nick and theyre shot. its really hard to keep the drive axle from falling on it as you slide the chaincase off. if you only have 3 drivers have no fear, you dont have to pull the chaincase. still be careful with the drive axle seal though. mike

If a guy pays atention it can be done in a matter of an afternoon.Like everybody says it all depends on how many ales you have. And get your old lady to help you they tend to have lots of patience and small hands for tight spaces.

Are you kidding, get your old lady to help? The reason we go out to the garage is to get AWAY from them!!

My first one took me about 8 hours with a friend helping. Getting the skid to line up took like 2 hours of it.

I just did this on my xcr. I would get some beer and call a friend. It ended up taking us about 7 hours with a dinner brake. The worst part is getting the suspension to line up with the mounting holes. Personally I would pay the 200 bucks to get it done after doing it once.
