The skis will help in reducing darting. If you have heavy steering with the steelies, then you need to check your ski alignment. You may need to adjust your rear suspension to help lighten up on the ski pressure.

They will help with the darting but imo the precision skis are crap. Only good on a packed groomed trail. Any little bit of snow and they push like crazy. IMO you would have been better off with some Flex skis or any other aftermarket plastic ski

I'm not impressed w/ how my skis do in powder. If you know how to ride in the deep stuff you just work a little harder to get it to turn. Need to teach the g/f how to turn though.

I've never ridden a sled with the precision ski's but it sure won't take much to greatly improve handling over your old steel ski's.My wife got the plastic ski-doo ski's at the time she bought her's in 97 and they were much better than the steel.I swapped my 97 MXZ steel ski's for flex ski's last winter. They certainly slide along much better but they don't seem to bite as well as the steel despite having more carbide.I need to tinker with the settings a little I guess as I have my sled set up very light on the front.

i was thinking with the precision skiis i could lighten up the weight on the front and still have it steer better then with the steel skiis. i had to put some weight on the fornt to get it to steer witht he steel skiis, they also seemed to hit the bumps on the trail awefull hard....

I had steel and got 2001 Flex skis for my 583 last year

500% improvement in handling and ride quality

Are we talking about the straight steel skis, or the plastic skis with the steel frames?

I'm pretty sure the 97 form 583 had plain out steelies, while the MXZ's had the plastic/steel.

And to further mix things up, how do the plastic/steels compare to the flex skis?

If you are just riding groomed trials, it will make a big difference. If you are riding powder, precisions are not very good.
