I have a 2003 mxz rev 600 HO and an 800. I'm from the prairies and I ride fields and such, usually in about half to a foot of powder. They are both completly stock.
In a field with fresh powder in it, the 600 tops out at about 83 mph, the 800 will top at about 100mph. Is this normal for a top speed from these sleds or should they be able to do more? what could I do to speed them up without modifying it just keeping stock? I'm about 150 lbs. Anyone with one of these sleds what will yours do stock?

Thanks,

put one in your 600 and look behind to see the 800.

They will do much better than that but the reason is because of the pathetic clutching and gear ratio Doo put on those sleds. Here's a hint: get a Cudney (or comparable) clutch kit and change your top sprocket to 24 teeth in both sleds. You'll accelerate faster and hit higher top speeds even tho you'll be using a shorter top gear because the clutches will shift all the way out now. You'll also want to do a leak down test to check your rings as they went south quickly on '03's causing low top end too. They are now being warrantied by Doo so a trip to your dealer for the new chrome rings could really wake up your sleds.

Merry Christmas,

Took my wife's Christmas present out 03 600 REV and put 5 miles on it and seized it up. The dealer just got the service done yesterday.

Not sure bout the speed, seemed to pull real nice thought,

Wow. No this is not normal. Way off. The 600 HO has some serious issues if it only hits 83 mph. Could be clutching but I would be doing a leakdown test on both. Any more than 15% leak down and your rings are on there way out. Clutching will help. On the 600 you can shake it up for less than $100. Drop one tooth on the top gear, swap in a 200-320 primary spring with some adjustable pins with say 17.5 or so grams and you should be good to go. Drop one size on the main jets as well. You should on a cold day on hard pack see 100 mph or a little more.
As for the 800. I'd contact Big John over at Doo Talk to wake that thing up.
