I have recently purchased a 96 Formula III 600. While riding for the first time I noticed that the clutch kicks in at 5000rpm. This seems high to me. Also I only show 70mph as a top speed, I am wondering if the clutch could also have something to do with this. If anyone could help, or let me know what rpm is normal for the clutch to engage, I would appreciate it, Thanks

I also noticed that I only get about 60 miles per tank.

My manual says engagement should be at 4500 +/- 200 for a 97 F3, and yes the sled should be much faster than 70 mph.

What kind of max RPMs are you seeing? SHould be around 8500

It is quite possible that the clutches are the culprit in this situation

I'd start with a good clutch cleaning and a new belt, then go from there.
