Can anyone recommend the best places for snowmobiling near the greater New York City metropolitan area? I'd like to find a place that's not too far away (no more than 2 hours' drive, preferably less, from Manhattan) where I can take a small group of friends and rent snowmobiles for a few hours at reasonable rates. We are all brand-new riders, so we don't need machines that are top of the line, or slopes that are really steep, or high-speed racing areas. Thanks.
P.S. If you have any special compensation or referral arrangements with the snowmobile operations that you're recommending, that's fine of course, but it would be nice to know about it. Thanks.
you're really not going to find anything within 2 hrs of nyc. closest to rent and ride would probably be somewhere northwest of albany.
I would google snowmobile rental and ny state.
another option is to search for websites of ski resorts close to you. for example, i know mt. snow in vt has snowmobile tours, but it is prob 4 hrs from you.
good luck
Try the poconos.... they adverstise on NYC radio stations all the time.... provided they have enough snow they do rent snowmobiles and are about 2-2.5 hours from NYC.... wait till after sunday.... i expect that we are going to get at least 12 inches come through that area which will pack down a good base for snowmobiling.
