i just don't understand the problem i got a new last year 2002 mxz700 i did not ride it last year mt wife did so i don't know if this problem was there last year but as on today it has 328 miles on it just out of warranty and heres the problem wont idle down so i turned idle down then its to low so i turn it up then it stays at like 3200 rpm there is no inbetween now i thought no biggie id hit the choke it would come down but then go back up so i thought oh it is to lean on the fuel screws which i hope i'm right the plastic white knobs are fuel not air right? i got the flat slide carbs.well that did not help so i rode it like that runs good mid range kicks butt on the big end just would not idle down well i bring it home and now here in ohio it acts as if its got a dead cylinder it has 140 or so psi on both cyl i tried new plugs i even pulled the plug wires off one by one while running it did not seem to make a difference so whats up?do i have a broken reed did a slide come loose i have no idea what to do to fix problem once you crack her 1/2 throttle or higher it runs fine just no idle and it wont hardly even stay running at idle its like a fouled plug thats the way it acts but its not the plugs i replaced them i'm kind stumped here help me out someone please tell me are they fuel or air screws?and what the factory setting ? the pto plug is wet sometimes too thats why i thought maybe broken reed
thanks for your help

You might be looking at two different problems. A lot of us with that series motors had the same high idle problem. As mentioned above some people can flick the choke others just blip the gas and the idle will come down. It is possible you turned the idle screw or the gas/air screw just out of where the sled wants to run. If you do a search on here some people have listed what they did for tricks on setting the air mixture screw and the sled stopped idling high and ran great for them.

YOU PROBABLY HAVE WATER IN YOUR GAS OR IN YOUR CARB OR AIR CLEANER BUY SOME ISOPROPAL ALCOHOL AND DUMP THE WHOLE BOTTLE IN THE TAKE AND LET IT IDEL FOR ABOUT 2 MIN OR UNTILL IT COME DOWN IT SHOULD CLEAR IT ALL UP

I had the same problem on my 01 700. I went to a 20 pilot jet. Works good now!

Talk with the dealer you purchased the sled from. See if he is willing to "give" you the reeds, and let him deal with the folks at BRP. I agree, that is bull crap! Shouldn't cost you a penny.
