ok my buddy just bought a 1978 blizzard 5500 fan cooled and it runs good MOST OF THE TIMEbut for some reason the PTO side burns really well the plug is a nice brown and all and the mag side usually burns out and is covered in gas/oil and than u have to change them it is a gas/oil mixture so what is the problem and i had both carbs of and cleaned them really good

When did he change the plug last? How good is the spark on the PTO side? If it is weak cheak the plug cap, wire and coil they are probly broken down with time and you arnt getting enough spark to compleatly combust the air fuel mixture causing the oily deposts on the plug
