Hi all,

any one had any experience with a 98 Formula 500. I bought one for my wife and it is very hard on fuel. I have jetted it down 3 sizes from stock, dropped the needles and leaned out the pilot jets but still seems to run pretty rich. It is also fairly hard on fuel. any suggestions.

What do you mean hard on fuel? I have never really gauged mine but I am guessing it gets about 10 mpg (american gal) and I ride it pretty hard on both trails and 2 trax. I haven't made any mods to it but I am the 3rd owner. I love the sled though, light but still has some kahunas to keep the big boys in sight.

my 97 form500 was slightly rich from the factory, for sea level riding at 20-40f anyhow. i opened the pilot AS to 2 turns out, and also dropped the needle one notch to the middle, of 5 positions.i did not change the jets however. seems pretty good on gas,can go for about 4 hrs straight on a half tank. that is constant riding with no stops. some lakes, some trails, some trail breaking in powder.
high idle??
motor over-revving??
excessive drag from overtight track??
suspension wheels dragging??
skis toe-in or out, way off??
i would say i could go about 100 miles on a tank, and still have a comfortable amount left.
