I own a vintage Jag 2000 with CDI ignition. Ran great all last year. In the spring I went to start it to store it for the summer and it had a mean miss on both cyls and would not take any gas (doesnt engage the clutch). It just boged down. It ran fine the last time it was used and parked.

So far I have taken the motor apart looking for bad rings, seals, replaced all the gaskets. Took the carb apart, cleaned it checked float levels. Took the coils out and checked them with an OHM meter for broken leads. Replaced CDI and COIL. Same problem.

It will idle and starts right up but when you give it gas it wont rev. It just bogs. It wont stall. it just bogs. The carb has a fixed hi speed and an adjustable pilot screw. When I adjust the pilot screw nothing happens. The plugs come out really sooty so I figure its running way rich. Checked to make sure the choke isnt staying on.

Anybody got any suggestions? :bash:

When you took the carbs apart did you remove both pilots ? Hold them up to a light and make really sure that they are open. Sometimes you can use a piece of wire from a wire brush to run through it but be careful not to scratch the inside. Check all air passages and spray carb cleaner in them and if you can blow compressed air through them. Also check your airbox for mice and leaves etc. If all else fails check your crank seals by spraying them while the engine is running with WD40. If you hear a big change in the sound of the engine you will know its the seals...good luck...jim

No I did not split the crank however there is no fuel residue on the outside of the seals. I'll try the wd 40 trick.

Its a single mikuni card and yes I cleaned it out, blew air trhough it, and used carb cleaner. It does not have an air box so I dont have to worry about the farm animals. I'll try the wd40 thing.
