Well now that Polaris has dropped the 800 engine that only leaves Skidoo still producing an 800cc engine. What do you think will happen in the near future with this class of sleds? I personally will miss them I have always loved the 800's, seems kinda strange thinking there will no longer be any new 800's on the trail. Shortly after I bought my sled in 02 I remember reading an article in a magazine on how they predicted that the 700's would be extinct within a couple years.... then came the F7's from artic cat and there statment in that magazine seemed pretty silly now. Long Live the 800's w00t
When will Skidoo drop their 800???????????????????

With the only 800, and no 700, is BRP behind the times, or cutting edge? IMHO, they should build both. Their Series 3 700 was bulletproof!

With polaris and Cat both having a sled in the 860's cc range it would seem foolish to make an 800 sled. Doo has a 1000cc so 800 is a considerable step down, from 860 to 800 is hardly a step at all. As far as doo and the 700 who knows...

BRP would be smart to keep the 800cc class.
Think about it. How big of a jump would it be to go from 600 or 700cc to a 1000cc machine.
They have to keep the 800. Maybe make a 800 EFI or something.

600cc too small 1000cc to big for some riders.
Personally I love the 800 in my 02 MXZ but my next sled will have the 1000 SDI probably the MXZ. (still a couple years away though)

Just a question, to sort of add to this thread. Is anyone finding that insurance companies are reluctant to insure 800 's or bigger? I have to find out if this is one of many sled urban legends. I think personally the 800 + size series sleds , are great. I was some impressed with them . I was considering buying an 03 SKS 700, based on what I have heard about insurance issues with 800's. Thanks , and I hope the talk of dropping the 800's is not true, and a sled urban legend.

I think 800s will be around for a while especially an 800 based on the f7 engine that had 155 160hp that would certainly keep em alive. IMO

You know I am not a Skidoo guy by any means(not yet atleast), but it didn't even dawn on me that skidoo dosent have a 700cc class sled! WOW! I cant believe I never noticed that. Do you think they will produce a 700cc sled any time soon?????
